Try this at home (insert name)

I've noticed lately that Finn does this funny thing when he is talking to Sean and I. He says our name after each phrase he says to us. If you pay attention to it you realize how much he actually says our names. Here are some examples...
"mommy, I'm hungry mommy."
"Do you want to play with me mommy?"
"Where is daddy, mommy?"
"What can we do today mommy?"
"I like your dress mommy."

I could go on and on. A few times I have tried to do the same while talking to Sean. You should try it. It sounds really funny and feels really un-natural. Have Fun!!!

Where are we all day?

Lately Finn has been interested in where mommy and daddy are when he goes to Diane's house (his daycare). First, Finn and I were driving and he asks me,
F: mommy, where do you work?
Me: I work at a school
F: you help kids to talk mommy?
Me: Yes, I do. How did you know that?
F: you tell me mommy (I don't remember telling him that, but I am sure that I did at some point and am super impressed that he remembered)
F: mommy, when I get bigger can I come with you?
Me: of course.
Then I overhear a conversation between Sean and Finn the other night. (by the way Sean works part-time for a local environmental law firm)
F: Where do you work?
S: I work at an office
F: what do you do there? What do you fix?
S: I don't fix anything, but I protect the trees, animals and water. I help keep them safe.
F: From the bad guys?

It always amazes me how much Finn listens to what we say and really takes it all in. He is so curious!!

The Sweetest Sound

Recently Julien started laughing. All you need is a bright toy and a silly noise and he will give you a chuckle. No matter what sort of day you are having, hearing him laugh and seeing him smile makes everything fade. Hopefully he will brighten your day as well!!!

Life with a permanent student

Sean is now in his last year of school. He cycles through being ridiculously busy and really busy. Last week was one of the worst yet. Starting Wednesday he had a big assignment due and three exams! He basically lived at Starbucks for a few days. Simultaneously Finn got really sick. He had a 103.7 temperature and felt miserable. Needless to say the weekend couldn't have come sooner. On Friday I took the boys to get a "special treat" for daddy getting through the craziness. I asked Finn what we should get him and Finn said, "um I think we should get fish oil. Daddy likes fish oil." I guess Finn is already picking up on Sean's health conscious behaviors! We got him his favorite beer instead.

Halloween

We decided last minute to head to St. Augustine to visit with our friends for Halloween. We spent the day with Meredith, PJ, and their 3 kids, and Lindsey, Jesse, and their 2 kids. Combined with our two we were outnumbered by children! I looked at Lindsey at one point and laughed at how our lives have changed so much. It feels like not long ago when it was just us girls rolling down the hill at the fort on a random weekend. Carefree and silly. It is amazing that we are now watching our children playing together!! It is such a blessing to have friends that I not only survived college with, but now am experiencing parenthood with. 

That night we took the kids trick-or-treating. Besides his recent trend of being scared of people dressed up in costume (Gator mascot), Finn had a blast and was highly motivated by the amount of candy in his bucket.

Welcome to my blog. I decided to get a real blog going, so I hope that you enjoy watching and hearing about our adventures. Finn is now 3 years-old and Julien is 3-months old. Sean is in his last year of school and busy as ever. I am back to working part-time at Glen Springs Elementary. Life with the boys definitely keeps me busy. Here they are....
